On January 18, 2013, SISU held a grand inauguration ceremony with University Hassan II-Casablanca (UHC) in Morocco, marking the official launch of the Confucius Institute in the city of Casablanca.
Amid warm applause, Chinese Ambassador to Morocco Ms. Xu Jinghu, Higher Education Minister of Morocco Mr. Abdullah Hatfield Desbarres, President of SISU Prof. Cao Deming and President of UHC Prof. Jaafar khalid Nassiri unveiled the nameplate together to celebrate the launching of the second Confucius Institute in Morocco.
President Cao addressed that the Confucius Institute would build a strong tie between the two universities to foster a closer partnership and to extend their influence across the world.
Mr. Abdullah Hatfield Desbarres, on behalf of Morocco’s Ministry of Higher education, remarked that with the ties between the two countries growing closer in economy, culture and science, the Confucius Institute would make a great platform for communication and play a more vital role in the interchange.
After the ceremony, President Cao accepted interviews by Xinhua News and other major local news agencies.
